I will accept that Dr. Erskine had to die for the sake of the plot. If he’d lived, there would be more super soldier serum and Captain America would be merely one supersoldier in an army of dozens, perhaps hundreds.
But Yensin? No excuse. He dies for no other reason than to motivate the hero, who seems plenty motivated already considering he built a power suit in a cave with a box of scraps and is in the midst of laying waste to his tormentors.
I would also like to point out that Tony built the suit in a cave with a box of scraps AND HELP FROM YENSIN. Yensin saved Tony’s life twice, first by hooking him up to a car battery so the shards wouldn’t pierce Tony’s heart, then by helping build the Iron Man suit so Tony could escape. Yensin is awesome and his contributions to the production of the mach 1 Iron Man should not go unrecognized.
Give me one good, solid, plot-relevant reason why Yensin had to die. If the reason is “to make Tony sympathetic” I will call shenanigans because it didn’t work.

With all my powers of bullshitting movie talk? I guess you try to say Tony losing another father figure or some shit. I dunno. Heroes aren’t allowed to have too much of a support system, they’re always losing father figures :P
Honestly it’s probably because Yensin would have been difficult to write into the rest of the movie and/or Tony would have looked silly carrying him the whole escape.
It would have been kind of awesome to have Yensin hanging around the lab though.
